Corona Virus

This page contains information regarding the corona virus in Japan, and how it affects car rental operations.

Can I still rent a car?

We are still offering car rental services at our shops except for the Narita Airport and Kansai International Airport branches. Our branches that are remaining open are Fukuoka Airport, Nagasaki Airport, New Chitose Airport, Shin-Yokohama Station, Center Minami Station, and Kagoshima Airport branches. You can book a reservation from our Top Page.

Is it safe to rent a car during this pandemic?

NICONICO Rent a Car is taking all precautions necessary to make sure our customers and staff are safe. All vehicles are thoroughly disinfected and sterilized after every use. All staff members are also required to wear masks while in the office and when working with the vehicles.

Compared to other methods of transportation, car rental is relatively safe. With a rental car you will only be exposed to your family members or friends, compared to the train system in Japan, where you will be in close contact with several strangers. If you are planning on traveling large distances, a rental car may be a good option for you.

Can we travel to Japan from overseas?

Travel restrictions may vary by country. To get updated and accurate information regarding travel bans, please check this website: https://www.japan.travel/en/coronavirus/

Please note that you may be required to undergo Corona Virus testing and/or a 14-day quarantine at one of the designated quarantine locations. See the link above for details.
